Wake Forest Field Hockey Announces Fall 2023 Schedule

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest field hockey program and head coach Jennifer Averill have announced the 2023 schedule, including eight home matches at Kentner Stadium and six ACC contests.
"This year's schedule is once again packed with quality opponents," said Averill. "The ACC / Big Ten Challenge is a competitive tradition that we are proud to be a part of and represent the ACC. Opening the season at Kentner, on our new turf, will certainly be a great environment to showcase our 2023 squad. We look forward to those home games as well as a challenging schedule on the road."
The Deacs will unofficially begin the season with two exhibition matches Aug. 14 at Liberty and Aug. 18 against North Carolina in Winston-Salem.
The ACC/BIG Ten Challenge will officially kick off Wake's season in Chapel Hill on Friday, August 25-Sunday, August 27 with matches against Iowa and Michigan.
Wake Forest will open the home slate at Kentner Stadium the first week in September with matches against William & Mary Friday, Sept. 1 and James Madison Sunday, Sept. 3.
The Deacs will stay home for three more matches against Bryant (Sept. 22), North Carolina (Sept. 22) and Miami Ohio (Sept. 24) before ending the month on the road at Duke Friday, Sept. 29.
Wake opens October on the road for three straight matches at Davidson (Oct. 1), at Louisville (Oct. 6) and Ohio University (Oct. 8). The team will return to Winston-Salem Friday, October 13 to host ACC for Virginia before getting back on the road to face Longwood on Sunday, Oct. 15.
The home season will come to an end October 20 against Boston College before the Deacs close out the regular season on the road at Syracuse (Oct. 27) and Colegate (Oct. 29).
Postseason play will begin with the ACC tournament in Charlottesville on Tuesday, October 31. The first and second rounds of the NCAA Championships are slated to take place on Nov. 17-19 before the Final Four and National Championship game wrap up the season on North Carolina's campus.
