Michael Massey Named to USA Baseball’s 2023 Collegiate National Team Roster

The Demon Deacon righthander will represent Wake Forest in series against Chinese Taipei and Japan.
CARY, N.C. – Wake Forest baseball's Michael Massey has been named to USA Baseball's 31-man Collegiate National Team roster that will represent Team USA in five-game series against both Chinese Taipei and Japan from June 30-July 12.
Massey joins Rhett Lowder (2022), Teddy McGraw (2022), Johnny Aiello (2017), Kyle Sleeth (2002), Bret Wagner (1993), Jake Austin (1989) and Erik Hansen (1985) as Wake Forest representatives on the national team.
In his first season with the Deacs in 2023, Massey made 27 appearances and recorded a 3-1 record with a 2.59 ERA. He also struck out 76 batters in 41.2 innings of work. Seven times he recorded at least five strikeouts including his second appearance against LSU in the Men's College World Series.
In his Demon Deacon debut, Massey collected his first of three victories in an 18-3 win over Youngstown State while also logging victories against Duke and Florida State.
The Suwanee, Ga., native was one of a program record 12 Demon Deacons named to the All-ACC Academic Team and he was also selected to the Winston-Salem Regional All-Tournament Team.
Massey is one of 10 players on this year's roster who appeared in the Men's College World Series as Wake Forest is one of 24 schools to have a student-athlete selected to the team.
The 20th USA vs. Chinese Taipei International Friendship Series is set for June 30-July 4, with games at the National Training Complex, the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C., Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis, N.C. and Segra Stadium in Fayetteville, N.C.
The National Training Complex will host the opening three games of the 44th USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Championship Series July 7-9, while games four and five of the series will be on July 11 and 12 at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Ballpark in Charleston, S.C.
