Mark Your Calendars! 150 Days Until Opening Night at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Mark your calendars, Deacon Nation! The Wake Forest men's and women's basketball teams are just 150 days away from Opening Night as the Deacs will begin their seasons at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Monday, November 6.

Entering his fourth season in DEACTOWN, Steve Forbes and an exciting new roster will start their season against in-state foe Elon. The second season of the Gebbia era with a top-25 recruiting class the Deacs will begin against Wofford. Game times and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.

Make your season ticket deposits today, starting at just $25 for women's basketball and $50 for men's basketball. Season tickets for both teams are scheduled to go on sale on June 20.

Along with your purchase of a women's basketball season ticket package this season there are many added benefits exclusive only to those who buy season tickets. Admission to all home games for this price Additional perks include:

A lunch opportunity with the Wake Forest women's basketball team
Access to The Blue Ridge Room for free light refreshments and snacks before and during each home game
"Season Ticket Holder of the Game"
- A season ticket holder will be recognized at each game
- They will be brought onto the floor during a quarter break or timeout to be recognized

New to the 2023-24 season, Wake Forest men's basketball will be starting season ticket sales in the summer. That means seat selection will take place from June 20-30! Season ticket holders or deposit purchasers have automatically been opted in to the seat selection process. No further action is required at this time. Season ticket holders and deposit holders for the 2023-24 season should have received their selection dates and times from Wake Forest Athletics on Wednesday, June 7.

Women's Basketball Preseason Overview

Megan Gebbia enters her second season as the head coach of the Wake Forest women's basketball program in 2023-24 after an impressive debut season at the helm.

In just her first season, Gebbia had a host of accomplishments:

Winningest first-year head coach in program history

17 wins tied the most since the 2011-12 season
Tallied the most wins against ACC opponents by a first-year head coach
Wins over four NCAA Tournament teams including wins over two Elite Eight teams

In the final week of January, the Demon Deacons recorded a pair of wins over eventual Elite Eight teams, taking down Louisville, the first win over the Cardinals in program history, and Miami.

Grabbed 12 wins at home, the fourth-highest total in program history

Finished second in program history with 227 threes made
Ended the season ranked fourth in program history with 123 blocks
Held ACC opponents at home to just 19.2 percent shooting from three

Limited five of nine ACC teams at home to one or less three-pointer made

Increased the team's assist percentage by nearly 20 percent
Signed a top-25 recruiting class according the ESPNW

This marks the first time since the 2014 class that the Deacs have signed multiple top-100 players in the same class and just the second time in the ESPNW era.

Led the Demon Deacons to a memorable three-day run at the ACC Tournament.

During their three days in Greensboro, Wake Forest had the second-largest halftime comeback in ACC Tournament history, erasing an 18-point halftime deficit to defeat Florida State.

It was one of a number of big wins during the first season of the Gebbia era. The Deacs claimed a key road win in the final year of the ACC/Big Ten, defeating Minnetsota in late November.

Men's Basketball Preseason Overview
Entering his fourth season at the helm of the Demon Deacons, head coach Steve Forbes is returning four starters from the 2022-23 squad, all who will be upperclassmen this season:

Central Michigan transfer guard Kevin Miller
UCLA transfer guard Abramo Canka
- All four will have two or more years of eligibility remaining.
- Additionally, this group includes two former 5-star high school recruits in Reid and Sallis

Wake Forest is coming off its first appearance in the Quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament since 2009. With an overall record of 19-14 in 2022-23 and 25-10 in 2021-22:

Wake Forest has had back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2008-09 (24-7) and 2009-10 (20-11).
Wake Forest has had back-to-back seasons with double-digit ACC wins for the first time since the 1995-96 (12-4) and 1996-97 (11-5) seasons.
The Deacs also had back-to-back 10-0 starts at home for the first time in program history from November 2021 to January 2023.

Since the start of the 2021-22 season:

Wake Forest is 31-5 inside LJVM.
During that time, Wake Forest won 15-straight games inside Joel Coliseum, which was the longest home-win streak since the Deacs went 22-0 during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons.
Wake Forest was the first ACC school to reach 31 home wins during the two seasons.
Wake Forest has defeated North Carolina in three consecutive home games for the first time since the 1960s.
With the win over then-undefeated Clemson on Jan. 17, 2023, Steve Forbes has defeated every ACC team at least once in less than three seasons.
