Along with head coach Tony Bresky, Eaton helped lead Wake Forest to its first-ever national championship in 2018.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After a successful seven-year stint with the Wake Forest men's tennis program, associate head coach Chris Eaton has opted to pursue a career in the professional ranks, working on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour and being the full-time coach of Rajeev Ram, who is currently the No. 2 ranked doubles player in the world.
"I want to thank Wake Forest Athletics and Coach Bresky for the opportunity to spend seven years with the men's tennis program," said Eaton. "I have loved my time in Winston-Salem and I am honored to have been a part of the success on and off the court. I have learned so much from Tony and all the members of our teams, and it is these experiences that will live with me as I move on to my next challenge."
A key part of the Demon Deacons' national championship in 2018, Eaton has enjoyed a decorated career at Wake Forest, helping lead the Deacs to three ACC regular-season championships (2017, 2018 and 2019) and two ACC tournament titles (2018, 2019).
"It was an amazing seven years having Chris on our staff and working side-by-side with him," said head coach Tony Bresky. "Not only is he an outstanding coach, but he is one of the most loyal and consistent people I have ever had the chance to work with."
Since Eaton's arrival in the fall of 2016, the Deacs have reached the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Round of 32 each year. Additionally, the Demon Deacons have reached the quarterfinals of the ACC Championships six of Eaton's seven seasons in Winston-Salem.
Individually, Eaton has coached a total of seven student-athletes (Skander Mansouri, Petros Chrysochos, Borna Gojo, Bar Botzer, Henri Squire, Eduardo Nava and Melios Efstathiou) who went on to be singles All-Americans and two pairs (Skander Mansouri/Christian Seraphim and Siddhant Banthia/Jakob Schnaitter) that were tabbed doubles All-Americans. Additionally, Eaton's resume includes coaching 20 All-ACC selections and one ACC Player of the Year (Melios Efstathiou).
"We [Chris and I] have shared many great memories and he has been an excellent representative of Wake Forest University and our tennis program," said Bresky. "I'm excited that Chris and Daneika will continue to live in Winston-Salem and we wish the Eaton family much success and happiness in their future pursuits."
