WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Truist, a longstanding partner of Wake Forest University who is An Official Banking Partner of Wake Forest Athletics and the Presenting Partner of Wake Forest Women's Athletics brings Deacon Nation this weekly update from the Demon Deacons women's programs:
  • Women's Golf:
    • The preseason No. 1 women's golf team will open their spring season February 4-6 at the Therese Hession Regional. Ohio State will host the event in Palos VErdes, California, at Palos Verdes Golf Club.
      • Graduate Rachel Kuehn won the individual title at the event in 2022 to earn an exemption into the Palos Verdes Championship presented by Bank of America LPGA event.
  • Women's Basketball:
    • In the continued effort to bring Value to Wake Forest, Winston-Salem and Triad Communities and provide the Best Fan Experience in North Carolina, Wake Forest Athletics will add 12 new banners honoring great accomplishments of Wake Forest women's basketball inside of Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum this week.
      • The jerseys of nine alumni, one former head coach and NCAA and WNIT tournament teams will now be marked by permanent banners in the arena rafters. Having a jersey honored means that current student-athletes can still wear the number of the individual with a jersey that is honored.
      • This reveal of new and renovated banners inside the Joel coincides with Wake Forest's basketball alumni weekend as our esteemed alums descend upon Winston-Salem for gatherings and fellowship around our two home hoops games on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. vs. Syracuse and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. vs. Georgia Tech.
    • Despite a strong second-half effort that saw the Wake Forest women's basketball team outscore Clemson by 11 points, the Deacs fell 73-59.
      • In total Wake Forest forced 20 turnovers on the night, tying the second-most this season with the only other higher total coming against BYU during the North Shore Showcase. Additionally, the 20 turnovers are the highest total forced in ACC play both this season and during the Gebbia era.
      • Offensively, Wake Forest was led by an inspiring performance from graduate guard Alexandria Scruggs. Despite having early foul trouble, the Fayetteville, N.C., native finished the night with a team-high 14 points on 7-of-10 field goals while also collecting three rebounds.
    • Wake Forest will be home twice this week as they play host to Miami on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. and Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
  • Women's Tennis:
    • Sophomore Krystal Blanch picked up her first-career singles victory with a 6-3, 6-1 win in sixth singles in the match against FIU on Sunday.
    • This upcoming weekend, the Demon Deacons will head to Norfolk, Va., for a double-header against Old Dominion (10 a.m.) and George Mason (4 p.m.) on Saturday (Feb. 3).
  • Track & Field/Cross Country:
    • The Deacs competed in the Bob Pollock and Camel City Invitationals this past weekend.
    • During the events, Addison Berry, Anna Bush, Emma Douglass, Madeline Rehm, Leia Braunagel and the women's distance medley relay team claimed podiums in their respective events
