Volleyball Announces Additions of Hawkins and Poeck on National Signing Day

Welcome to Wake Forest, Kelis Hawkins and Sadie Poeck!

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – National Signing Day has arrived for the 2024-25 school year and Wake Forest volleyball has announced a pair of signees for its Class of 2025 – Kelis Hawkins and Sadie Poeck.

The two new Demon Deacons are set to arrive on campus in fall 2024.

 

Kelis Hawkins | 6-3 | Middle Blocker | Fontana, Calif. | Etiwanda High School
Kelis will arrive at DEACTOWN as a product from the West Coast, having enjoyed a standout career at Etiwanda High School in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Competing at the middle blocker spot, the 6'3" athlete has pace the Eagles to league and tournament championships as one of the top players in the Baseline League. Off the court, Kelis has impressed as a consistent honor roll student and holds interest in studying sociology or environmental science during her college tenure. Outside of volleyball, Kelis also has enjoyed notable success in basketball, having won a national championship during the 2023-24 season.

"I chose Wake Forest because I could see myself attending the institution and taking advantage of the academic and athletic opportunities there. During my time on campus, I hope to accomplish my goal of getting a bachelor's degree in Sociology or Environmental Science. If something else comes up, I can adjust my goal and work toward a new career."

 

Sadie Poeck | 6-0 | Right-Side Hitter | Zionsville, Ind. | Western Boone High School
A prospect from the Midwest, Sadie has competed as a four-year varsity letter winner for Western Boone High School's varsity volleyball squad. Last week (Nov. 9), she helped the Stars win the 2024 Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) 2A state championship – the first ever in program history. The title win, a three-set sweep, saw the all-conference hitter total 10 kills. On the club volleyball scene, Sadie has competed for Circle City 18 Purple. She comes from a family of athletes, as her parents Chad and Dava played college baseball and basketball, respectively, while her older sister, Sydny, currently plays college softball. At the moment, Sadie has an eye on studying health and exercise science and business.
