WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest field hockey's Mia Schoenbeck has been selected as a member of the USA Field Hockey Women's National Team Training Camp for an upcoming camp and friendlies against the German Women's National Team, USA Field Hockey announced this week.
"We are extremely excited to watch Mia compete on this stage," head coach Jen Averill said. "Her competitive spirit, in combination with her technical and physical abilities, has created an awesome opportunity for her to showcase her skills with the Senior National Team. Mia is a gifted athlete who loves the learning process and the competitive environment. This week provides a great opportunity for her to learn and continue developing her skills with some of the best athletes our sport has to offer."
The training Camp will be alongside the German Women's National Team with practice games at UNC Charlotte as follows:
Saturday, November 23 at 2:00 p.m. - Game 1
Monday, November 25 at 11:00 a.m. - Game 2
Tuesday, November 26 at 11:00 a.m. - Game 3
A member of Team USA at the 2024 Junior Pan American Championships, Schoenbeck helped guide her country to silver at the games, including a goal in the 32nd minute against Canada in the final game of the group stage.
Schoenbeck was one of three Demon Deacons to start every match this season and recorded three goals and two assists in her second season in the Old Gold & Black on her way to earning Second Team All-ACC honors.
The sophomore got on the ledger in the Deacs second match of the year, playing a beautiful aerial into fellow second-year Faye Janse, who knocked down the pass and fired a shot into the left side of the cage to put Wake Forest up against Michigan.
Schoenbeck opened the scoring for Wake Forest off a Demon Deacon penalty corner against VCU and added her second assist of the year against Kent State.
The Louisville, Kentucky native recorded the first brace of her career in Wake's 6-0 victory over Davidson earlier this year, as she scored a pair of fourth-quarter goals to cap the win for the Demon Deacon.
