WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – In week 12 of the 2024 NFL Season, Pro Deacs were highlighted by a head-to-head matchup between two former Demon Deacons, an incredible catch in the elements on Thursday Night Football, and some consistent defensive play.
Blake Whiteheart Helps Browns Secure Win in the Snow
After getting activated off the practice squad, tight end Blake Whiteheart made the most out of his opportunity on Thursday Night Football, helping the Cleveland Browns secure a 24-19 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the snow in a typical, hard-fought AFC North showdown. In his first game back on the active roster since Oct. 6th, Whiteheart hauled in an incredible 29-yard catch late in the third quarter to help spur a touchdown drive to extend the lead.
So far this season, Whiteheart has recorded four catches for 42 yards and a touchdown, with the 29-yard catch being the longest catch of his NFL career.
Zach Tom and Malik Mustapha Battle it Out in Green Bay
Week 12 of the 2024 NFL season saw another battle between former Demon Deacon stars, as Zach Tom and the Green Bay Packers came out victorious over Malik Mustapha and the San Francisco 49ers 38-10. For the Packers, Tom played all 67 snaps, earning him a 78.8 PFF rating for the game. This season, Tom has cemented himself as one of the best offensive tackles in the league, as his 85.3 PFF rating is the sixth highest grade among tackles in the league. Tom also holds an 87.0 PFF rating for run blocking, the third best among offensive tackles.
On the other side, Malik Mustapha continued his incredible rookie campaign, recording a team-high nine tackles (three solo) and a tackle for loss on Sunday. Mustapha has proven to be a force for the San Francisco secondary, having recorded 52 total tackles, including 21 solo tackles, as well as four pass defenses and an interception.
Kobie Turner Adds Another Solid Performance
Despite the Los Angeles Rams 37-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, defensive lineman Kobie Turner added another solid performance to his sophomore season. Turner finished the game with five tackles, four of which were solo tackles. Turner has had a solid 2024 season, having 52 total tackles, which is just five away from his total from his rookie season. Turner has also matched his career-best with 29 solo tackles, while also adding 5.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, three pass defenses, and a forced fumble.
