Garrison Tubbs Named ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year; 11 from Wake Forest Men's Soccer Selected to All-ACC Academic Team

This marks the second straight year the Demon Deacons have had more than 10 members of the program named to the prestigious All-ACC Academic Team.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Eleven members of the Wake Forest men's soccer team were selected to the 2023 All-ACC Academic Team while Garrison Tubbs was named ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year, the league office announced on Thursday.
Garrison Tubbs, Chase Oliver, Hosei Kijima, Cristian Escribano, Sidney Paris, Bo Cummins, Babacar Niang, Cooper Flax, Liam O'Gara, Travis Smith Jr. and Jeffrey White all garnered the prestigious honor thanks to a combination of academic and athletic achievements during the 2023 campaign.
With his selection as ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year, Tubbs added another honor to his lengthy list of accomplishments both on the pitch and in the classroom. During the 2023 season, the Brunswick, Ga., native – who graduated from Wake Forest in three and a half years with his degree in Finance – was also a United Soccer Coaches first-team All-American, a United Soccer Coaches first-team Scholar All-American, ACC Defensive Player of the Year, the only defender named to the All-ACC first-team and was a MAC Hermann finalist.
He joins Jacori Hayes (2016) and Kevin Politiz (2017) as Demon Deacons to be named ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year under head coach Bobby Muuss and becomes just the fourth from Wake Forest men's soccer to earn four All-ACC Academic Team selections alongside Hayes (2013-16), Ian Harkes (2013-16) and Brad Dunwell (2015-18).
Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests to be considered for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team.
