Deacs Well Positioned in Day One of Inaugural Invitational at the Ford

RICHMOND HILL, Ga- After play was suspended due to darkness, the Wake Forest men's golf team finished day one of the Inaugural Invitational at the Ford in first place. Shooting 22-under-par as a team through two rounds and holding a 12 stroke lead over the field, all five players are placed within the top 15 of the leaderboard.
In round one, the Deacs had a strong showing where each player carded under-par and tallied five or more birdies. Each player finished the opening round tied for 11th or better, helping boost the Demon Deacons to a 10-stroke lead thru 18 holes as a team.
Senior Michael Brennan shot 5-under-par in round one with a score of 67 (-5), and is tied for fifth at the end of play. Junior Scotty Kennon and freshman Kyle Haas both are tied at third place individually, both shooting six-under.
After a slow start, Kennon tallied a clutch eagle right before the turn on hole No. 9., and has shot four birdies in round two. Haas tallied four birdies between holes 8 and 11 in round one. In round two, Hass hit an eagle on hole No. 11. In his first appearance of the 2024 season, Collin Adams made six birdies on the back nine of round one, and is currently tied for tenth. Freshman Tom Haberer scored five birdies in round one, two of them on back-to-back holes. Haberer currently sits tied for fifteen.
Wake Forest will finish its remaining holes tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. before going into the third and final round of competition.
