Five Deacs in Top-20 at Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, LA- The Wake Forest men's golf team finished day one of the Louisiana Classics with five players in the top-20, and as a team, the Deacs are currently in fourth with a day one score of 571 (-5).
Marshall Meisel shot under-par in each round, turning in a score of 141 (-3) and tying for tenth.
After a slow start in round one, senior Michael Brennan had a key stretch in round two. Brennan tallied ten birdies in the second round, five of them being consecutive on the back nine, and carded the lowest score of the day, 65 (-7).
He joins Meisel and is tied for tenth on the individual leaderboard at 3-under-par through 36 holes.
Scotty Kennon made three birdies in each round, ending the day tied for eighteenth and turning in a score of 143 (-1).
Clay Stirsman and Boyd Owens, both competing for Wake Forest's B Team, posted two under-par rounds on the day.
Stirsman made three consecutive birdies on the back nine, and leads the Deacs, tying for fifth. In round two, Owens made an eagle on hole No. 3, ending the day tied for fourteenth and helping Wake Forest's second team land in seventh place with a 36-hole score of 285 (E).
Round Two
The final round will begin Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. off holes 1 and 10 (Leaders tee off back nine). Wake Forest B will play alongside TCU and Louisiana Tech, while Wake Forest A will be paired with SMU and Sam Houston.
