Luca Pow Named ACC Freshman of the Week; DK Suresh Ekambaram and Holden Koons Tabbed Doubles Team of the Week

Wake Forest became the first program to garner both accolades simultaneously this season.
CHARLOTTE – Following a perfect 2-0 weekend, freshman Luca Pow was named ACC Freshman of the Week, while DK Suresh Ekambaram and Holden Koons were named ACC Doubles Team of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday evening.
Both accolades came on the heels of a weekend which saw Wake Forest earn its eighth and ninth consecutive victories with a pair of wins over ACC foes, Louisville and Notre Dame.
Pow, a native of Solihull, England, went 2-0 in singles over the weekend, earning a pair of straight-set victories over Piet Steveker and Yu Zhang of Louisville and Notre Dame, respectively.
So far this season, Pow has accumulated a stellar 18-2 record. Additionally, the standout rookie is currently on a 12-match winning streak, dating back to Feb. 4.

The nation's No. 1 doubles pairing (DK Suresh Ekambaram/Holden Koons) defeated two top-15 opponents last weekend, knocking off No. 9 Etienne Donnet/Natan Rodrigues of Louisville and No. 13 Sebastian Dominko/Jean-Marc Malkowski of Notre Dame. Of note, Wake Forest secured the doubles point in both contests.
Suresh Ekambaram/Koons are 14-1 in dual doubles action this season, playing solely at the No. 1 position. The dynamic duo is a perfect 6-0 against nationally-ranked opponents and has yet to drop a doubles match in ACC play (4-0).
Notably, Suresh Ekambaram has only lost one dual doubles match in his collegiate career, going 35-1 – all of which coming at the No. 1 position.
