Deacs to Bring in Clemson Tigers for Regular-Season Finale

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest men's basketball (18-12, 10-9) has officially reached its final test of the 2023-24 regular season, as the team will host Clemson (21-9, 11-8) on Saturday evening (March 9) inside Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Action will get underway at 6 p.m. ET and be shown on ACC Network.

Saturday is set to include 'Senior and Graduates Day' for the Demon Deacons, as veteran players Andrew Carr and Damari Monsanto, along with head manager John Kimball, will all be honored in a pregame ceremony. Senior and graduate members of band, cheer and dance will be recognized at halftime. 

The Deacs are coming off a Tuesday night matchup against Georgia Tech earlier in the week.

Wake Forest requests that all fans in attendance at the game adhere to all Athletics events rules and protocols. This includes all postgame procedures that allow for the competing student-athletes, coaches, and officials to exit the court safely.


Last Time Out
Playing against the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, the Deacons competed in a toe-to-toe contest before ultimately falling short, 70-69.
 
Junior guard Hunter Sallis led Wake Forest with a game-high 22 points while also adding four rebounds and three assists. His Tuesday performance involved a 14th 20-point game of the year and ninth in conference play.
 
Cameron Hildreth provided effort on both ends to contribute 17 points and four steals – leading all individuals in the latter category and posting a 54.5 field goal percentage.
 
Kevin Miller finished with 12 points in 32 minutes played. Big man Efton Reid III chipped in 11 points (5-of-8 shooting) and a team-best six rebounds.
 
The Deacs were solid at the free throw line, making 17 of 20 attempts (85.0 percent). In the second half, the team shot 55.2 percent from the floor. Additionally, Wake Forest outscored the Yellow Jackets in the paint, 38-22.


Stepping to the Charity Stripe
Wake Forest is one of two ACC teams (along with Virginia Tech) to have three players rank inside the top 15 for free-throw percentage within the league:

That trio has aided in steadying the team as the ACC's best from the stripe, holding a league-leading .800 percentage that also ranks third nationally.

The Scout
Having defeated Syracuse in a 90-75 victory at home on Tuesday (March 5), Clemson has won four of its last five. The Tigers are tied with Pitt for fourth in the conference standings.

Senior center PJ Hall stands second in scoring among all league players (18.8 ppg) and graduate guard Joseph Girard is 11th (15.8 ppg). Girard also stands as the conference leader in three-point field goal percentage (.431) and free throw percentage (.955). Ian Schieffelin leads the team on the boards with 9.7 rebounds per night, a mark that is second in the ACC. The Loganville, Georgia, native chips in just under 10 points per game while Chase Hunter adds 12.4. Hall additionally averages seven rebounds and 1.6 blocks per outing.
