
No. 7 Wake Forest Primed for Quartet of Home Matches

The Demon Deacons are looking to go undefeated against the Big Four this season.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Coasting a 14-match winning streak, the No. 7-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team will conclude the 2024 regular season with a quartet of home matches this weekend at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
Friday, the Demon Deacons (24-4, 9-1 ACC) will host No. 14 Duke at 4 p.m., before squaring off with Gardner-Webb at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, the Deacs will face No. 23 North Carolina (1 p.m.) and Radford (4:30 p.m.).
Sunday's contest against the 23rd-ranked Tar Heels will serve as Senior and Graduates Day.

Wake Forest earned its 14th-straight victory Sunday evening, defeating Miami, 4-2, at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables, Fla.
After jumping out to a commanding 3-0 lead, Wake Forest relinquished back-to-back matches, before graduate student Holden Koons clinched the victory en route to his 11th-consecutive dual singles win. Of note, Koons has accumulated a 20-3 dual singles mark this season, including a 8-1 ledger in ACC play.
Then-No. 74 DK Suresh Ekambaram earned his seventh ranked singles win as he defeated then-No. 125 Martin Katz on court one. Suresh Ekambaram, a product of Chennai, India, has compiled a team-best 5-3 record in first singles this season.

In the latest ITA Team Rankings, Wake Forest was ranked seventh nationally, marking the eighth-consecutive week the Demon Deacons have been ranked in the top 10.

No. 14 Duke enters Friday's matchup with a 16-7 record, including an 8-2 mark in ACC play. The Blue Devils are currently on a five-match winning streak, all of which coming against ranked opponents. Most recently, Duke earned a 5-2 victory over then-No. 22 North Carolina.
Ranked Blue Devils
Friday will mark the 66th all-time meeting between the Demon Deacons and the Blue Devils. Duke earned a pair of victories over Wake Forest last season, including a 4-3 win in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament. Of note, the Deacs have won eight of their last 10 matches against the Blue Devils.
The Matchup - Gardner-Webb
Gardner-Webb (18-3, 4-0 Big South) is currently on a six-match winning streak, featuring wins over UNC Asheville and Radford. The Bulldogs are unbeaten in Big South play this season and have already clinched the league's regular season title.
Wake Forest is looking to remain unbeaten against Gardner-Webb, as the Demon Deacons own a 5-0 record against the Bulldogs, all-time.
The Matchup - No. 23 North Carolina
No. 23 North Carolina has accumulated a 13-6 record this season, going 7-3 in conference play. The Tar Heels have tallied three top-25 wins on the year (then-No. 20 Florida, then-No. 24 Georgia and then-No. 13 Florida State).
