Deacs Lead Round One of ACC Tournament

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- After round one of the ACC Championship, the Wake Forest men's golf team is atop the leaderboard. The Deacs hold a three-stroke lead over No. 4 North Carolina.
The Demon Deacons surged to the top of the leaderboard, at one point having a 8-stroke lead. As a team, they finish with a round one score of 271 (-13). Four Deacs finished the opening round par or better, with all four of the counting scores being 2-under or better.
Wake Forest was led by senior Michael Brennan, who is tied for the individual lead. Michael Brennan made his presence known early, tallying back to back birdies on his first two holes of the day.
Brennan, who is looking to defend his individual title this week, ends the day five-under-par with a score of 66.
Collin Adams and Marshall Meisel both turned in a bogey-free scorecard, pacing the Deacs to a first-place finish on the day. Both Adams and Meisel finished tied for sixth with a score of 68 (-3).
Junior Scotty Kennon ended round one tied for tenth place with a score of 69 (-2). After an even front nine, Kennon got on a roll at the turn, carding four birdies to push his round to 2-under-par.
Round Two Tee Times
For the second round of stroke play, the Demon Deacons will tee off Saturday with No.4 North Carolina and No. 16 Georgia Tech, with the first tee time set for 10:00 a.m. off No. 1.

"What a good start for the Demon Deacons. What a fantastic course, we're very excited to be here at Charlotte Country Club. Great people and great crowds today, very thankful for this opportunity for the team. Needed to play with a purpose today, and come out and get after it. There is so much to play for still ahead in the next 36 holes, and then hopefully match play. These guys have worked very hard to get better each and every week, and each and every event and it's starting to pay off! The Pros Bill Haas, Cameron Young ,Will Zalatoris, Alex Fitzpatrick, Webb Simpson and Parker Gillam also had nice starts to their weeks. Go Deacs!"
