Wake Forest Maintains Leaderboard Position After Day Two of Championship Play

The Deacs were one of just two teams to shoot under par in the second round.
WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team finished the second day of play at the ACC Championships in second place, and just three strokes back from the leader.
As a team, Wake Forest is second in the field in scoring on par-threes and par-fives and leads the field in scoring on par-fours. The Deacs continue to lead all teams with 125 total pars and are second in birdies with 32.
Graduate Rachel Kuehn leads all players in scoring on par-fives, going seven-under over the course of 36 holes. Junior Carolina Chacarra is second in scoring on par-threes and freshman Macy Pate is fourth on par-fours. Pate also leads the field with 29 pars over 36 holes. Kuehn and Chacarra both have eight birdies so far, third-most in the field.
Kuehn was the low Deac of the day, shooting five-under and working her way into the top four on the individual leaderboard. An eagle on the par-five eighth shifted the momentum and she made the turn one under. The Asheville native started the second nine with four straight pars before hitting three straight birdies on 14, 15 and 16. After a par on 17 she also birdied the par-five 18th to finish the day with a 67 and T2 individually. Chacarra also birdied 15, 16 and 18 to finish her day one under and T5.
In her first ACC Championship, Pate has the second-lowest score through 36 holes for all ACC freshmen. After an even-par opening round, the rookie also birdied the par-five 18th to finish the day one under. Senior Mimi Rhodes finished the day four over but was the fourth Deac to birdie the 18th hole and remains inside the top 20 on the individual leaderboard. Freshman Brooke Rivers is one-over and T21 after 36 holes.
Saturday's Third Round
The third and final round of stroke play will begin Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. Wake Forest will be paired with Clemson and Virginia with tee times starting at 9:50 in 10-minute intervals.
The top four teams at the end of play Saturday will advance to match play on Sunday. The 1-seed will face the 4-seed and the 2-seed and 3-seed compete. The winners of the two matches will be in the championship match approximately one hour after the conclusion of the semifinals.
