
Brennan Leads Wake Forest on Day One of NCAA Regional

AUSTIN, TX- After 18 holes, the Wake Forest men's golf team finished round one of the NCAA Austin Regional on Monday.
The Deacs were led by senior Michael Brennan, who ended the day tied for the individual lead. He goes into the second round sharing the lead with multiple nationally ranked players.
Brennan opened his round hot with birdies on four of his first five holes, and hit the turn at 4-under par. The Leesburg, Va. native rallied on the front nine, tallying two more birdies to end his round 4-under-par.
As a team, the Demon Deacons are tied for ninth and go into the second round five strokes back of the cutline.
Alongside the Deacs, No. 8 ranked Arkansas also ends the day tied for ninth. The last advancing spot is held by Georgia at even-par.
For the second round of stroke play, Wake Forest will tee off Tuesday with Kansas City (+10) and Grand Canyon (+11), with the first tee time set for 8:55 a.m. off No. 10.

"Slow start today, but we tee off hole 10 again tomorrow morning and should have the feel for the course. Need to have a solid five guys tomorrow. The score was misleading today, as we played very solid and in good position off the tee. We will be better, we have no choice."
