Brennan won the Bank of Utah as sponsor exemption in just third TOUR start
IVINS, Utah- Six weeks after his Three Victory Promotion to the Korn Ferry Tour following his third win this season on PGA TOUR Americas, Wake Forest men's golf alum Michael Brennan earned his way to the PGA TOUR with a win at the Bank of Utah Championship.
With the win, Brennan secures a two-year PGA Tour exemption through 2027.
Brennan shot a final-round 5-under 66 at Black Desert Golf Course in Ivins, Utah, in his third PGA Tour start and first as a professional.
In doing so, he became the seventh player since 1970 to win his first Tour title within his first three starts. Brennan won three times on PGA Tour Americas this season and finished No. 1 in the Fortinet Cup standings
He opened with rounds of 67-65-64 and entered the final round with a two-stroke advantage.
Brennan came out strong on Sunday, quickly separating himself from the field with a flawless front nine that included five birdies and no bogeys, giving him a commanding five-shot advantage at the turn. His first stumble came at the par-4 10th, where a missed fairway led to a bogey, allowing Rico Hoey, who birdied the same hole, to momentarily cut the lead to three. From there, Brennan held strong, adding two more birdies to offset a closing bogey at 18 and seal his first TOUR victory by four strokes.
Brennan concluded his PGA TOUR Americas season with a T4 finish at the Fortinet Cup Championship, his fourth consecutive top-five and 12th top-10 result of the year.
He first claimed the top spot in the Fortinet Cup standings after a breakthrough win at the BioSteel Championship in August. Two events later, he captured the CRMC Championship presented by Northern Pacific Center in a playoff, then followed it up with a victory the following week at the ATB Classic to secure his Korn Ferry Tour status.
From Coach Haas:
What a great week for Demon Deacon Michael Brennan. Every time I talk about the team and some of the players to watch, I always mention Michael. He has the will and drive to be a champion. More importantly, he's a wonderful young man. He won eight times while at Wake Forest and was a two time ACC champion. If you look at the stats, he could be possibly the hottest player in the world right now. Last 5 results of PGA Tour Americas, -25 Winner! -26 Winner! -19 Winner! -16 5th. -16 4th.
