Deacs in Position After Second Round of ACC Championship

Senior Jakob Melin is in contention for the ACC individual title.
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – With 18 holes remaining in stroke play, the Wake Forest men's golf team is well positioned in fifth place through 36 holes at the ACC Championship at Shark's Tooth Golf Course.
Carding his second under-par round of the week, senior Jakob Melin paced Wake Forest with a 69 (-3) in round two, tallying a team-best six birdies to move to five-under overall. Sitting tied for fifth, Melin is four shots off the individual lead and is in contention for the ACC individual title, which would mark his first collegiate victory.
Juniors Kyle Haas and Tom Haberer both enter the final round of stroke play tied for 30th individually at two-over par.
Nicholas Prieto turned in a steady 71 (-1), recording 13 pars for his best round of the ACC Championship so far. He accounted for one of Wake Forest's two rounds of par or better in round two.
For the final round of stroke play, the Demon Deacons will tee off Saturday with No. 10 seed Louisville (-3) and No. 6 seed Georgia Tech (+1), with the first tee time set for 9:22 a.m. ET off No. 10.
From Coach Haas:
"Some mistakes today for the Deacs but still in a good spot. It will take a clean day tomorrow to advance. The course was tougher today with some wind, but no excuses. We'll need a solid day tomorrow, and we will expect that from our group. Go Deacs!"

Tournament Format
The ACC Championship is five days, teeing off on Thursday, April 23 and concluding Monday, April 27. Wake Forest will be paired with Louisville and Georgia Tech in the third and final round of stroke play.
The third round is scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m. ET, as the top eight teams advance to the match play. The match play quarterfinals on Sunday will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET, with the semifinal set for later that day at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET Sunday's match-play final is scheduled for 10 a.m. ET.
