Houston becomes the ninth Demon Deacon in the last three seasons to be invited to the national team’s training camp in Cary, N.C. and marks the first time in program history that Wake Forest has had invitees in three-straight years.

CARY, N.C. – After a breakout sophomore season, All-ACC shortstop Marek Houston, has received an invite to the 2024 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp, as announced by the organization Friday.

Houston raised his batting average 106 points from his freshman to sophomore year and hit safely in 31 of his last 39 games, including 16 multi-hit efforts.

The sophomore reached base at a .500 clip during the Clemson series and hit safely in 15 of the last 17 contests with an RBI in 11 of the last 16 to end the year.

Houston finished 59-for-149 (.336) at the plate with 38 runs scored from the leadoff spot, after returning from an injury in late March.

Over the final 20 games, he was one of three Deacs over the .300 mark, finishing 23-for-76 (.303) at the dish.
