
Hamby Named to 2024 USA 3x3 Women’s National Team

The four-member team featuring the Wake Forest women’s basketball standout will compete at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
COLORADO, SPRINGS, Colorado – USA Basketball announced Monday that Wake Forest women's basketball alumni Dearica Hamby has been named to the 2024 USA 3x3 Women's National Team.
The four-member team, the other members of which were announced in early June, will compete at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
Hamby has previous USA Basketball 5-on-5 and 3x3 experience. Most recently, she made her FIBA 3x3 Women's Series debut at the Springfield Stop as a member of team Springfield. Hamby was named to team Springfield at the conclusion of the 2024 USA 3x3 Women's National Team training camp, which preceded the Springfield Stop. In 2023, Hamby was a member of the gold medal winning USA squad that stood atop the podium at the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup. Additionally, she was recognized as the tournament MVP.
Hamby has been involved in USA 5-on-5 programs since 2022, having participated in USA Women's National Team training camps (2022), FIBA Women's World Cup Qualifying (2022) and the USA Basketball Women's College Tour (2023).
Hamby Leads USA to AmeriCup Gold
Hamby led Team USA to gold at the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup 2023 in Puerto Rico in November.
For her efforts, she earned MVP honors in the tournament. Hamby had been clutch all tournament, leading her side in scoring with 33 points while having a prominent impact on defense. Her crowning moment came in the last second of the final against Brazil where a clutch shot wrapped up a 13 - 19 comeback to win gold.
The game-winning moment went viral as Hamby skyed over her defender to get the pass on the block and then faded away to score the clinching point for Team USA.
In the Gold Medal game, Hamby finished with six points and five rebounds while shooting 6-of-8 from the floor.
She ended the tournament with 6.6 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. Her 35 total rebounds over the five games were the most in the tournament. Team USA finished a perfect 5-0 in the tournament and outside of the Gold Medal game won the other four games by at least five points.
Breakout Campaign in Los Angeles
Hamby has had a career year during her first full season as a member of the Los Angeles Sparks. The Demon Deacon alumni is averaging a team-best and career-high 17.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals per game while also shooting 50.9 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three.

The 2024 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game will feature a matchup between the WNBA All-Stars who comprise the USA Basketball Women's National Team versus the remaining WNBA All-Stars. The league's 20th All-Star Game will be played on Saturday, July 20 at 8:30 p.m. ET at Footprint Center in Phoenix and airs on ABC.
Historic Career at Wake Forest
The Wake Forest great ended her Demon Deacon career as the program's all-time leading scorer (1,801 points) and rebounder (1,021 rebounds). She earned All-America honorable mention honors from both the WBCA and Associated Press this season. Hamby was also a Wade Trophy Finalist and a WBCA All-Region selection.
In her final two seasons in Winston-Salem, she averaged a double-double while scoring better than 20 points per game.
