Jasheen Davis Named to 2024 Bednarik Award Watchlist

Davis is one of 90 college football student-athletes from 66 different schools currently under consideration.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest football senior defensive lineman Jasheen Davis was named to the 2024 Bednarik Award Watchlist, as announced by The Maxwell Football Club on Monday afternoon.
The Bednarik Award has been presented to the College Defensive Player of the Year since 1994 and is named in honor of Chuck "Concrete Charlie" Bednarik who was an All-American player at the University of Pennsylvania and later a multiple year All Pro linebacker and center for the Philadelphia Eagles. He is a member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame and was the last NFL player to be a full-time player on both offense and defense.
Davis enters his senior season tied for fifth in program history in career sacks with 20.0 in his first three seasons and sits just 10.0 sacks away from the program record of 30 set by Mike McCrary (1989-92).
The Snellville, Georgia native started in all 12 games during the 2023 season for the Deacs, finishing the season with 49 tackles, 25 solo tackles, 16.0 tackles-for-loss, 7.5 sacks, 10 quarterback hurries and 2 pass breakups.
Davis recorded a season-high seven tackles with three solo tackles in the win against Vanderbilt and followed the next week with career-high in tackles-for-loss (3.0) and sacks (3.0) in the win against Old Dominion.
He had five games with five or more tackles during the 2023 season and led the Demon Deacons in tackles-for-loss (17.0), quarterback hurries (10) and sacks (7.5) during the 2023 season
Getting to the ball carrier often, Davis led the team in assisted tackles with 43, led the team with six unassisted sacks and 3 assisted sacks
Davis finished his junior campaign ranked 32nd in the country and fifth in the ACC for sacks while also ranking ninth in the country and second in the ACC for tackles-for-loss.
