SWITZERLAND - Wake Forest women's golf 2024 alum Mimi Rhodes has won her first professional event on the LET Access Series just 16 days after winning the Curtis Cup with the GB&I team and turning professional.
After advancing through the first stage of LPGA Qualifying School in August, Rhodes won the Curtis Cup, won the Lavaux Ladies Open, and will next compete in one more LET Access event before Stage 2 of Q School, the Calatayud Ladies Open in Spain in two weeks.
The England native carded rounds of 68, 68 and 64 to find herself tied at the top of the leaderboard after fellow English player Billie-Jo Smith forced a play-off with a magnificent birdie on the 18th.
Rhodes produced a stunning birdie to take victory after three playoff holes.
"I'm super happy and over the moon. It makes me very excited for the future," said Rhodes. "I was feeling all the emotions in the playoff; stress, nerves, excitement, but I was just happy to be there and that all my work has paid off."
Rhodes was a three-time All-ACC honoree during her four-year career at Wake Forest and appeared in the lineup for every single event she played as a Demon Deacon. She had six top 20 finishes in eight events during the 2023-24 season, including a season-best third-place finish in September 2023.
At the 2024 NCAA Championships, Wake Forest was led by Rhodes, who finished T10 and earned NCAA All-America honors. Three of Rhodes' four rounds were even or under par, highlighted by her final-round two-under score of 70, the lowest single-round score for any Deac all week. Rhodes finishes her Wake Forest career with eight top 10 finishes and a career-best scoring average of 71.48 for her final season.
