The Demon Deacons will be in search of their first ACC win of the 2024 season.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Wake Forest men's soccer will compete in its second consecutive ACC road match on Friday night, when the Demon Deacons will face Syracuse at SU Soccer Stadium in New York.

The Demon Deacons will be seeking the first road victory by either program in the all-time series.

Kick-off for the match is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the match will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.

The Matchup
  • Wake Forest and Syracuse will meet on Friday night with each side in search of its first ACC win of the 2024 campaign.

  • Wake Forest will be in search of its first road win of the season following a 1-1 draw with No. 21 UCF and losses at Gardner-Webb and No. 4 Clemson.
  • Syracuse is 2-3-1 at home with victories over Niagara and Canisius along with a draw against current No. 9 Charlotte. The Orange have fallen at SU Soccer Stadium to Le Moyne, No. 17 Virginia Tech and a Cornell side receiving votes in the latest national poll.
  • Wake Forest (3rd; 157) and Syracuse (2nd; 158) each rank in the top-three nationally in total shots through Tuesday night's action.
Last Time Out
  • Last Friday, Wake Forest renewed its longtime series with Clemson as the Demon Deacons fell 1-0 to the Tigers at Historic Riggs Field.
  • The difference between the two sides was a 53rd-minute penalty kick goal for the Tigers. Following the goal, Wake Forest logged seven more shots in an attempt to equalize but were unable to earn points on the road.

  • In total, 18 Demon Deacons played on the evening including season-high minute totals for freshman Amoni Thomas, junior Basit Umar and graduate Sidney Paris.
Looking To Turn Opportunities Into Goals
  • As Wake Forest progresses deeper into the 2024 season, the Demon Deacons are looking to turn more of the quality opportunities they've created into goals.
  • Through Tuesday night's action, Wake Forest ranks No. 3 nationally in total shots (157) and No. 2 nationally in shots per match (19.63). The Demon Deacons are one of only three programs in the country to average more than 19 shots per match, joined by Dayton (19.71) and Ohio State (19.38).
  • Additionally, Wake Forest ranks top-five nationally in shots on goal (63; 5th) and shots on goal per match (7.88; 3rd).

  • In the Deacs' 3-2 comeback victory over Central Arkansas and the three draws in which they've responded after going down 1-0, Wake Forest has outshot opponents 83-28 after conceding.
Scouting the Orange
  • The Orange currently hold a 3-3-3 overall record following a 1-0 loss to a talented Cornell squad on Tuesday night.

  • Wake Forest picked up a point in a 0-0 draw at Syracuse on Oct. 27, 2017.
Looking Ahead
  • Wake Forest will return to Winston-Salem to begin a three-match homestand, as the Deacs will next face ETSU on Tuesday before Boston College and Wofford also come to North Carolina.
