WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's basketball team is heading north to Blacksburg, Virginia, to face the Virginia Tech Hokies in the only matchup of the season between the two programs this weekend. Tip is set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday and the game will air live on ACC Network.

Wake Forest is coming off its fourth-straight ACC win this week when they defeated Stanford, 80-67, inside The Joel Coliseum. The Demon Deacons are second within the ACC in turnovers forced over the first 17 games of the season with 245, forcing 13 turnovers against the Cardinal on Wednesday. The Deacs recorded eight steals during the contest, moving them into third in the ACC with 135 steals.

The Demon Deacons had another effective night against the Cardinal, shooting 29-for-58 (50 percent) from the field. The Deacs have now shot 50 percent or better in three consecutive games, shooting a combined 92-of-173 (53.2 percent) over the course of those three games. The Deacs exploded in the second half against Stanford, connecting on 17-of-26 (65.4 percent) of their shots in the second period.

Playing all 40 minutes, Hunter Sallis led all scorers with 30 points – his second performance of 30 or more this season. The Omaha native shot 12-of-17 from the floor and made three of five three-pointers taken. Sallis has now scored 20-plus points in each of his last six showings – the longest stretch in his collegiate career.

Tre'Von Spillers tied his career high in points (18) while adding 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of 2024-25. Fellow senior Cameron Hildreth chipped in 12 points while going a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line. Defensively, he and Ty-Laur Johnson collected three steals apiece. Efton Reid III finished with nine points and five rebounds in 28 minutes played.

In league play, the Deacs have started this season 5-1 for the first time since the 1996-97 year. That team started league play going 9-1. With wins over Syracuse, NC State, Miami and Stanford, Wake has now won four straight ACC games for the first time since 2022-23 when the Deacs won four straight from Jan. 7-17.

A win Saturday would mark the first time Wake has won five straight ACC games since the 2004-05 season and would also mark three straight ACC road wins for the first time since the 2003-04 season.
