Samantha Heyison Named to 2025 USA National Team Roster

The sophomore will compete in the shot put and discus.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – For the third consecutive year, Wake Forest track and field athlete Samantha Heyison has been named to the 2025 USA National team, where she will compete in discus and shot put, USA Track & Field announced on Jan. 16, 2025.
"It's an honor to represent Team USA and Wake Forest as a national team member again," Heyison said. "I'm looking forward to this season and hopefully earning a spot on the World Para Championships roster."
Born with constricted band syndrome, Heyison began participating in Para track and field in 2021. A native of Adamstown, Md., she was a three-time high school state champion and also competed in soccer, softball and basketball growing up.
This past summer, Heyison competed in discus and shot put at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris, France, from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8.
She placed fifth in the F64 discus, with a throw of 38.78 meters after training with Wake Forest throws coach Collin Post.
I'm really proud of Samantha," Post said. "It's a huge honor to be selected to a national team, and this is a testament to her hard work and dedication to her sport. I'm looking forward to watching her continue to improve through the season as she prepares to qualify for the Para world championships next fall in India."
