
Two Deacs Set to Star in the Jones Cup Invitational

Scotty Kennon and Marshall Meisel are both ranked within the top 40 players of the PGA University rankings
SEA ISLAND, Ga.- Wake Forest men's golf seniors Scotty Kennon and Marshall Meisel will travel to the prestigious Ocean Forest Golf Club to compete in the 21st Jones Cup Invitational, January 10-12.
This three-day, 54-hole individual stroke-play event brings together the best amateurs from the U.S. and abroad, including 43 of the top 100 amateurs in the world.
The two Demon Deacon seniors are both ranked within the top 40 players of the PGA University rankings, with Kennon at No. 22 and Meisel at No. 39. Kennon comes into his second appearance in the Jones Cup Invitational ranked 75th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
In his previous appearance at the Jones Cup, Kennon finished within the top-30. The Ponte Vedra Beach native finished the 2024 Jones Cup ranked T27th shooting 11-over-par. Only one player out of the 83 player field finished under-par in 2024.
Some Wake Forest golfers that have played in the Jones Cup over the last 15 years include Michael Brennan, Evan Beck, Mark Power and Andrew McLauchlan. Additionally, Webb Simpson competed during the 2007 Jones Cup Invitational.
Kennon is set to tee off with Brycen Jones of Georgia Southern, Zac Jones of BYU and Noah Kent of Florida. Meisel will tee off with Jay Mendell of LSU, Jacob Modleski of Notre Dame and Tommy Morrison of Texas.
Round one will begin on Friday, followed by round two on Saturday. The first two rounds will start between 9-11:10 a.m. The final round will tee off between 8:30- 10:40 a.m. on Sunday.

Ocean Forest Golf Club opened in 1995 and was initially designed by Rees Jones. Course architect Beau Welling worked with the club in 2023 to redesign the oceanside course.

The Ocean Forest Golf Club is currently ranked in the GolfDigest "100 Greatest: The Second 100" at 162nd and sixth best in the state of Georgia.
