Heyison Concludes Competition at 2025 Para World Championships

The junior earned a silver medal in the women’s discus F44 final on Monday before claiming fourth place in the women’s shot put F44 final on Friday.

NEW DELHI, INDIA – Following a week of competition against some of the best para athletes in the world, Wake Forest junior Samantha Heyison concluded her time at the 2025 Para World Championships at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Friday.

Heyison, who represented Team USA, kicked things off by taking home a silver medal in the women's discus F44 final on Monday. The Adamstown, Md., native recorded a throw on every attempt, with her best throw of 40.65 meters coming on her third attempt to help propel her to a runner-up finish.

This marked Heyison's best finish in an event at the Para World Championships, having previously earned the bronze medal in both the F64 discus and F64 shot put finals at the 2023 Para World Championships in Paris. 

Heyison concluded competition on Friday as she recorded a distance of 11.33 meters on her final attempt to secure a fourth place result in the women's shot put F44 final.

Heyison will now set her sights on getting ready for the upcoming indoor track and field season for the Demon Deacons.
