The 2025 OVC Freshman of the Year will have three years of eligibility remaining.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest head men's soccer coach Bobby Muuss announced the addition of standout forward Joby Reid, who transfers to the Demon Deacons with three years of eligibility after one season at Houston Christian.

Reid, a native of Tauranga, New Zealand, arrives in Winston-Salem following an outstanding freshman season in the Ohio Valley Conference. The six-foot forward was named the 2025 Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year, earned a spot on the OVC All-Newcomer Team, and was selected to the OVC All-Tournament Team after leading his squad to the conference title game.

"I am excited about the addition of Joby to our attacking group," Muuss said. "His physical presence and ability to play football is what caught our eyes in the portal. Joby is a football junkie and has a great desire to develop and that is what this program is about. He has already proven he can score goals at the Division I level and his work rate and ability to set up teammates makes him a threat in any group."

"Joby is a physical, athletic and hardworking attacking player that can impact the game with his hold up and combination play and is a constant threat to the opponents goal," former Liberty head coach, Kelly Findley, said after playing against Reid twice last season.

Throughout his debut collegiate campaign, Reid scored six goals and added six assists, leading Houston Christian in assists while ranking second on the team in goals.

In his first-ever collegiate match, he sparked the team with two assists in a 4-0 victory over Pacific on Aug. 24.

He recorded three matches with multiple goal contributions on the year, including a goal and an assist in a 2-1 victory over Incarnate Word on Oct. 24, and scored three goals over the final five matches of the season.

This marks the second-consecutive season the Demon Deacons have brought in a conference freshman of the year following the addition of the 2024 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, Harvey Sarajian, a year ago who made an immediate impact for the Deacs.

Prior to his collegiate career, Reid was a three-year letter-winner at Tauranga Boys College, where he scored 17 goals in 20 appearances during his final high school season. He also competed at the club level with Tauranga City AFC and Birkenhead United and earned U19 Most Promising Player and U23 Player of the Year honors.
