
Deacs Claim Fourth Top-5 Finish of 2024-25 Season

Three Demon Deacons claim top-five finishes
JOHNS ISLAND & HOLLYWOOD, S.C.- The Wake Forest men's golf team claimed another top-five finish of their 2024-25 season, while Wake Forest senior Marshall Meisel shot a final round of 70 (-2) and finished runner-up at the Battle at Briars Creek on Tuesday.
Ending with a final three-day score of 854 (-10) , the Demon Deacons shot their lowest round of the tournament in round three, posting a 281 (-7) and finishing in a three way tie for fourth place.
Meisel shot three under-par rounds of 71-69-70 to finish the tournament tied for fourth at 6-under par, just one stroke short of the individual lead. After the turn in round three, Meisel carded three consecutive birdies to secure his position at the top of the leaderboard.
This was the Chevy Chase, Md. native's second top-five finish of his senior season, and second of his career.
After turning in a team-best 64 in round three on Tuesday, sophomore Tom Haberer remains in the top 25, tying for 23rd at even par. Along with Haberer, senior Collin Adams also finished in 23rd place, posting two under-par rounds.
Junior Jakob Melin shot a final-round of 74 to finish the event holding a share of 34th place at 2-over.
Senior Scotty Kennon ended the Battle at Briars Creek tied for 38th place at three-over par, posting his best score in round one, carding a 2-under 70. Heading into Tuesday, Kennon was sitting in contention and was tied for sixth.
Freshman Jorge Hao grabbed his first top-five finish and career best finish as a Demon Deacon, while sophomore Kyle Haas picked up his third top-five finish of his career. Both Hao and Haas ended The Stono holding a share of fourth place at four-under par.
Junior Boyd Owens had a season best finish, ending in 18th place at three-over par.

"We played lots of golf today, as we finished round two before heading into the third and final round. When you add it all together, we didn't score as we should have, and that is an area we will continue to work on. Great event and thanks to College of Charleston. Go Deacs!"
Next Up
The Deacs travel to Pacific Palisades, Calif. for the Genesis Invitational Collegiate Showcase on Feb. 10.
