LA JOLLA, Calif. - Following another top-five finish at the Battle at Briar's Creek, the Wake Forest men's golf team is set to bring select players to the 11th-annual Genesis Collegiate Showcase on Monday at Torrey Pines GC (South Course).

The Demon Deacons will bring seniors Scotty Kennon and Marshall Meisel to the 2025 Genesis Collegiate Showcase.

Through week five, seniors Kennon and Meisel are both ranked within the top 40 of the PGA University rankings. Kennon is ranked at No. 22, while Meisel is ranked at No. 39.

In their last outing at the Battle at Briar's Creek, Meisel shot three under-par rounds of 71-69-70 to finish the tournament tied for fourth at 6-under par, just one stroke short of the individual lead. Kennon tied for 38th place at three-over par, posting his best score in round one, carding a 2-under 70.

Back to Back Titles
In 2022, Wake Forest sophomore Michael Brennan won the Collegiate Showcase shooting a five-under-par 66 to earn the final exemption into The Genesis Invitational. Brennan used a birdie-eagle stretch on the 10th and 11th holes to  separate himself from the largest field in the history of the Collegiate Showcase. Brennan, a Leesburg, Va. native who ranked No. 19 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking at the time of his victory, became the second Wake Forest player to win the Collegiate Showcase joining Will Zalatoris (2015).

In 2023, the Deacs took home the team title. The team featured Meisel, who shot 11-under-par, and won the competition by three strokes over the other teams.

Wake Forest has claimed the most individual titles at the Genesis Collegiate Showcase. First held in 2015, the showcase will be contested for the 11th time in 2025.

Collegiate Showcase Breakdown
The Genesis Invitational Collegiate Showcase is an exciting opportunity for a collegiate golfer to play their way into the Barracuda Championship field while allowing universities to compete for a $50,000 donation to support their golf program. The Collegiate Showcase allows your golf program to experience Torrey Pines during one of the PGA TOUR's Signature events, while awarding the winning collegiate golfer the opportunity to compete in a co-sanctioned PGA TOUR & DP World Tour event outside of your college golf season.

About the Course
In a joint statement with Genesis, TGR Live and The Riviera Country Club on January 16, the TOUR announced that The Genesis Invitational would be relocated from The Riviera Country Club due to the ongoing natural disaster in Greater Los Angeles and out of respect for those affected. Torrey Pines has been the home to the PGA TOUR's San Diego event since 1968 and has also been the venue for two U.S. Opens in 2008 and 2021.
