Wake Forest earned its fourth ACC road victory on Wednesday night.
PALO ALTO, Calif. – Playing at Stanford for the first time in program history, Wake Forest men's basketball (17-6, 9-3 ACC) showed collective grit on Wednesday en route to a 79-73 win over the Cardinal (15-8, 7-5 ACC). The victory secured a regular-season sweep for the Demon Deacons, as the team downed Stanford at home last month on Jan. 15.
Wake Forest impressed with a balanced scoring attack, as Cameron Hildreth led all individuals in scoring for a second straight outing. The Worthing, England, native finished with 22 points while shooting 7-for-10 from the floor. It was his sixth performance of the season in which he has scored 20-plus points.
Hunter Sallis came up big in the second half, totaling 19 points for the night on a strong 60.0 field goal percentage. He displayed an all-around showing with seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in 32 minutes played. Ty-Laur Johnson also did a bit of everything to tally 14 points, a season-high six rebounds, four assists and two steals.
In the frontcourt, Tre'Von Spillers made five of his eight field goal attempts for 12 points while pulling down five rebounds. Efton Reid III chipped in eight points and six rebounds, going a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line.
For the game, Wake Forest shot 52.1 percent from the field. The team showed noteworthy focus at the free-throw line in the final 20 minutes, making 15 of 16 attempts. The Deacs finished with the rebounding advantage over Stanford (22-17) and outperformed the Cardinal in paint points, 34-32.
Defensively, Wake Forest forced 17 turnovers while collecting eight steals. The Deacons scored 20 points off Stanford's turnovers and limited the host to 6-of-24 shooting from three-point distance (25 percent).

Coach's Comments
"This was our best road win of the year. I have a lot of respect for Kyle and his team, they are a really good offensive team. We're the first team to come in here in league play and win, so we are very proud of that. It was a back-and-forth game, like I knew it was going to be. You have to give them a lot of credit, we tried to get away from them a couple of times but couldn't do it. Ultimately, we got stops when we needed them. Our defense has been solid all year long and we made free throws down the stretch. We didn't shoot free throws very well in the first half, and one thing about Stanford is that they are not going to miss free throws.
We did a good job on Raynaud and Sellers. We mixed it up with the double team and it got to the point where he played point guard more than he did in the post. We got stops in seven of our last 11 possessions, which was huge. We shared the ball on offense and got in the lane 46 times, scoring 67 points. When you do that and get 1.45 points per possession, that's pretty good. Again, we're ecstatic to win here. It is a tough place to play and it's the first time I've ever been here." - head coach Steve Forbes
