Wake Forest Concludes West Coast Swing at Cal

BERKELEY, Calif. - The Wake Forest men's basketball team will conclude a two-game road swing on the West Coast with a matchup against Cal on Saturday afternoon at Haas Pavilion. Tip is set for 5 p.m. ET and the game will air nationally on the ACC Network. 

Wake Forest opened the road trip Wednesday evening scoring its second victory over Stanford on the season, as the Demon Deacons were clutch from the free throw line down the stretch to pull away with a 79-73 victory over the Cardinal. In the second half, Wake Forest made 15 of its 16 free throws including all eight attempts in the final 1:20 of action. 

The Deacs were led offensively by senior Cameron Hildreth, who led Wake in scoring with 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. Fifteen of his points came in the first half, as Hildreth led Wake Forest in scoring for the second consecutive contest following a 24-point outing against Pitt last Saturday. 

In total, four players reached double figures on the night, as senior Hunter Sallis tallied 19 points while sophomore Ty-Laur Johnson contributed 14 points with Tre'Von Spillers adding 13 as Wake Forest shot 52.1 percent from the field as a team. 

Sallis, who is tied for fourth in scoring average in the ACC, collected 12 of his 19 points in the second half while converting on all four of his free throw attempts. He also led the Demon Deacons with seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in 32 minutes of action.

The Matchup 
The Golden Bears are coming off a 74-62 victory over NC State on Wednesday evening as Cal pulled away late in the second half, holding the Wolfpack to just 2-of-12 shooting over the final six minutes of action. 

Sophomore guard Andrej Stojakovic leads the Golden Bears in scoring at 18.3 points per game, tied for the fourth-most points per game in the ACC alongside Wake Forest's Hunter Sallis and Jamir Watkins of Florida State.
