Scotty Kennon was the highest finisher for the Demon Deacons, and the only Deac to finish under-par

PALM CITY, FLA.- The Wake Forest men's golf team closed out the final day of tournament play at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday at Floridian National Golf Club.

As a team, the Deacs finished the Valspar Collegiate Invitational in 15th out of the stacked field of 17 with a 10-over-par 862.

Senior Scotty Kennon was the highest finisher for the Demon Deacons, tying for 25th place at three-under 210. As the only Deac to finish under-par, Kennon penciled in two under-par rounds of 67 (-4) and 69 (-2) to secure his position inside the top-30.

Senior Collin Adams shot two under-par in his opening round, and ended the Valspar Collegiate Invitational tied for 57th and four over-par for the tournament.

Junior Jakob Melin carded a three-over 74 in his final round, tallying ten birdies over three rounds. Melin sits tied for 63rd at five-over.

Climbing four spots up the individual leaderboard, senior Marshall Meisel registered a final round score of 71 (E) to finish in 75th place at nine over-par.

Freshman Jorge Hao ends his final round tied for 82nd place at 12-over 225.

From Coach Haas:

"As a team we did not putt very well this week, and a couple of big numbers cost us. This was an NCAA quality field, and our best is yet to come. I watch other other teams and their ability to score the ball. We will continue to work, and work, and work some more until we figure this thing out. We are very close. Go Deacs!"

Next Up

The Deacs will conclude their regular season at the Calusa Cup in Naples, Fla. at the Calusa Pines Golf Club from April 6-8. This will be their final event before the ACC Tournament starting Thursday, April 24 at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
