Four Deacs in Top-25 After Round One at Calusa Cup

NAPLES, Fla.- Sitting ahead of a pair of top-10 teams including No. 4 LSU and No. 8 Virginia, the Wake Forest men's golf team finished round one of the Calusa Cup in Naples on Sunday.
Through 18 holes, the Deacs complete round one in third place with a score of 296 (+8) with four players sitting inside the top-25. Wake Forest leads the field in par 5 scoring, going -7 across all the par fives on the day. Additionally, the Deacs have collectively carded the most pars in round one with 52.
Senior Marshall Meisel was the low Deac of the day, notching two birdies on the last nine in his opening round. Meisel sits tied for tenth place at one-over.
Both senior Scotty Kennon and junior Jakob Melin turned in opening round scores of 74 (+2), and hold a share of 15th place.
Sophomore Tom Haberer ended the first round of the Calusa Cup tied for 21st place at three-over par, while senior Collin Adams is currently tied for 26th place at four-over par.
Teams will play another 18 holes for round two on Monday, April 7, with tee times starting at 12:30 p.m. The Deacs will be in the second group off the first tee with players from Iowa and Purdue.

"There were lots of good things today, but making a few more putts will be helpful. There were a couple of holes that gave us problems, but with a few adjustments we'll look for another good day tomorrow. Go Deacs!"
