Chacarra recorded the Deacs’ lowest score of three rounds.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - In the continued conquest of back-to-back ACC titles, No. 9 Wake Forest women's golf advances to the first round of match play tomorrow as the fourth seed team after a fourth-place finish in stroke play. The Deacons worked their way back from a difficult first day of competition to shoot their best round of three at six strokes under par and finish 865 (+1) overall.
Leading the round three charge was senior Carolina Chacarra, who hit all 18 greens in regulation and carded a bogey-free day for Wake Forest's best round of the day, as well as the week. With a final score of 68 (-4), she climbed a total of 20 spots from round two to finish T9 with teammate Macy Pate.
Pate worked a clean front nine for her best score of the week at 70 (-2) and finished even par and inside of the top-10 alongside Chacarra. Following an impressive performance the day prior, freshman Sarah Lydic carded two consecutive birdies on the first two holes of the day to record another score under par and finish her two rounds of tournament play three strokes under par.
With the team's only eagle of the competition, freshman Chloe Kovelesky secured a top-25 finish in her first conference outing and finished one over par during round three. Junior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen completed her competition T43 and 80 (+10).
In a repeat of the 2024 season, Wake Forest will face fifth-seed North Carolina beginning at 7:30 a.m. ET off of hole 10. All matches will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra with Tony Simeone and Suzy Whaley on the call.
