4/25/2025 9:50:00 PM | Men's Golf
The Demon Deacons currently sit in third place at eight-under par, play is set to resume on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. ET.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky- Severe weather resulted in the suspension of the second round of the ACC Men's Golf Championships on Friday afternoon. After three inclement weather delays, play was officially suspended around 3 p.m. in Kentucky.
Wake Forest was eight-under par through holes 10 to 13 for the second round and currently holds their position in 3rd place.
The Deacs look to finish out tomorrow strong, as the top eight teams will move on to match play to determine the tournament team champion. Over the past three years, the Demon Deacons have advanced to match play at the ACC Championship.
The Demon Deacons got off to a hot start in their second round, with four out of five players tallying a birdie on their first hole of the day. The Deacs are currently tied for the second lowest score in round two.
Junior Jakob Melin went on a tear, notching 5 birdies over his first ten holes of the second round. Melin is currently tied for second place at five-under par and just one stroke off the individual lead.
Senior Marshall Meisel started off his second round strong with a birdie on his first hole. The senior also had back-to-back birdies on holes 12 and 13 to climb seven spots up the leaderboard to find himself tied for eighth place at three-under par. Meisel is three strokes off the individual lead.
Both Melin and Meisel are not only in contention for the ACC individual title, but their first collegiate individual titles. The first-place golfer following the conclusion of stroke play will be recognized as the ACC individual champion. The Deacs 24 individual champions are the most in ACC history.
The action will resume at 8:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, April 26, with the continuation of the second round followed by the completion of the third round. Wake Forest will be paired with SMU and Cal for the final two rounds.
From Coach Haas:
"We got off to a great start today. Four of our five guys birdied 10, (the first hole of the day) so that's always a good way to start. We hung in there this afternoon, but the weather cut the round short. It's good we get to start off hole 10 again going into the final round. You always want to fight and make it into match play, and we have a chance to do that tomorrow. We're looking forward to the challenge ahead. Go Deacs!"
Tournament Format (All Times ET)
The match-play quarterfinals and semifinals remain scheduled for Sunday, April 27, at 8:30 a.m., with the match-play final set for Monday, April 28, at 11:00 a.m.
