The Polish standout was named Conference USA Freshman of the Year for MTSU.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Just over two weeks removed from winning the 2025 NCAA championship, the Wake Forest men's tennis team has added an elite transfer, Kacper Szymkowiak, for the upcoming 2025-26 season, head coach Tony Bresky announced Monday.

In his first collegiate season with Middle Tennessee State, Szymkowiak was named Conference USA Freshman of the Year and earned All-Conference USA First Team Singles honors after finishing with a stellar 12-2 record this spring.

The Wroclaw, Poland-native set the school record for most-consecutive wins to open a season with 11.

He opened his career with the Blue Raiders by earning a straight-set win over Tenneessee's Jan Kobierski (6-2, 6-1) on Jan. 16 while competing in the fifth singles position. By the end of the year, he cemented himself as MTSU's No. 1. Of note, 11 of his 12 victories on the year came in straight-sets.

In doubles, he picked up his first ranked win against No. 72 Halldin/Homberg of Pepperdine on March 11.

Szymkowiak reached a career-high ITA Junior ranking of No. 134 and currently holds ATP rankings of No. 1181 in singles and No. 1143 in doubles. Additionally, he joins the Demon Deacons with a 13.37 UTR.
