The Demon Deacons will be back in action next Sunday at home for a final preseason showing.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – A balanced attack by Wake Forest women's basketball headlined its first exhibition game of the 2026-27 season, as the Demon Deacons cruised past NC A&T in a 68-43 road victory.
Three Deacs recorded double figures in points, led by freshman Adora Nwude's 11 points. Providing an immediate spark as a reserve, the Vienna, Va., native made all but one of her six field goal attempts in under 13 minutes of play.
Freshman Oshauna Holland and graduate student Breauna Ware chipped in 10 points apiece, with the latter totaling all of hers in the first half. Additionally, the two guards each finished with two steals and Holland pulled down four rebounds.
In just over 18 minutes of action, sophomore Opal Bird recorded six points, four rebounds and three assists while going 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Sophomore Grace Galbavy contributed seven points, three rebounds and a pair of steals.
As a team, Wake Forest had an efficient performance from the field, going 26-for-45 (57.8 percent). The Deacs were at their best from three-point range, making 11 of 17 tries (64.7 percent). Wake Forest also had the edge in paint points (26 to 14) and bench points (34 to 11).
Defensively, the Demon Deacons held the Aggies to a 39.0 field goal percentage. The team also forced 27 turnovers and scooped 13 steals – five players finished with two steals.
How it Happened
From Head Coach Megan Gebbia
"I thought we did well entering the second half, especially with ball pressure by our guards and wearing them down. We forced 27 turnovers but also had too many of our own in transition - some things to clean up there. We attacked them well off the dribble and knocked down threes when we got open. It was a good team effort today. We need to keep getting better every day and start preparing for next Sunday."
