Coach's Comments
"We had a happy locker room, rightfully so. One thing I shared with them is that joy delayed is joy lost forever. They came out and played a high level of offense for the whole game. We didn't defend well in the first half. They made 10 threes. We didn't guard the ball very well. I thought we were not very physical at the point of attack and getting on the ball screen. Our guards were getting caught in the ball screen behind the player which caused us to over help, and they kicked it out and hit their threes. We adjusted that at halftime. We switched one through four some. We switched one through five some. We went under [JJ] Starling instead of trying to get over because he was getting down inside of us. We guarded the ball better, rebounded the ball better in the second half. Offensively, we got in the paint 38 times for the game to score 59 points. I'm a big believer in ball and body movement.
"Myles Colvin is a testament to resiliency and belief in yourself. I think he was one for 16 in the last two games coming in here, but the shot quality today was pretty good. He's got a tight spin on that thing. He's got confidence. He missed one three, and that was at the end when he was wide open, What a great comeback for him. I thought Sebastian Akins played outstanding down the stretch. I thought he was able to get inside of their defense. I thought him and Isaac [Carr] together were good, but Seb was great, especially in the second half. I thought Cooper [Schwieger] was great. He went 5-for-5 and got a big offensive rebound. I thought Tre'Von [Spillers] was great.
"Overall, I feel really good, but I felt good once we got the lead. I wasn't feeling good in the first half when we were struggling to get stops, but in the second half we got more things going defensively. Once we got the lead, we never looked back."- head coach Steve Forbes
