Kovelesky Leads Deacs Through Opening Day at Porters Neck

The sophomore carded eight birdies and just one bogey across 36-holes.
WILMINGTON, N.C. - After two rounds of play in Wilmington, the no. 2-seed Wake Forest women's golf team is in fifth place at four-under par entering tomorrow's final round of stroke play at Porters Neck Country Club.
The Deacs got off to a hot start in round one, at nine-under-par, marking the Demon Deacons' lowest opening round score at the tournament in program history. The 18-hole score surpassed the previous record set in 2019 and 2024 at eight-under par.
Fresh off their success at the ANWA, sophomore Chloe Kovelesky and junior Macy Pate shot 68 (-4) to start their days with five birdies apiece and a clean front nine. With a total score of 137 (-7), Kovelesky tied Emilia Migliaccio ('21, '23) for the third lowest 36-hole score of Wake Forest golfers at the ACC Championship.
Graduate student Morgan Ketchum kicked off her first postseason as a Demon Deacon at one under during round one, while freshman Cartoon Rujiranan posted two consecutive rounds at even-par.
Senior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen carded her low round of the day in the morning at one-over, followed by a clean front nine during round two.

Wake Forest tees off for the final round of stroke play at 8:50 a.m. ET. The Deacs are paired with NC State and Clemson, with live scoring available via Scoreboard. The 2026 ACC Championship will begin live coverage on ACCNX during Saturday's semifinal of matchplay.
