Wake Forest Advances to Match Play at ACC Championship

The Demon Deacons will face off against North Carolina in the first round for the third consecutive year.
WILMINGTON, N.C. - Carding its lowest round of the tournament, the Wake Forest women's golf team shot its best round of the week at 10-under to advance to the match play portion of the 2026 ACC Women's Golf Championship at Porters Neck Country Club. The Deacs will battle North Carolina in the first round for the third year in a row.
Despite finishing the first day of competition in fifth place on the team leaderboard, a combined team effort propelled the Demon Deacons into third place with a score of 278 (-10). Today's round matched the third lowest final round score in Wake Forest women's golf history at the tournament.

The standout team performance was lead by sophomore Chloe Kovelesky, who claimed the third place individual title at nine-under, and carded a singular bogey across 54-holes. The Boca Raton, Florida-native was one of three players to do so, alongside Stanford's Sampedro and Duke's Malixi, who claimed first and second place, respectively. Kovelesky's score ranks third in history among Deacs at the tournament.

After a bogey to start her final round, senior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen battled back, carding her lowest round of the tournament. The Almere, Netherlands-native four-under par round was showcased by three birdies on the day, and an eagle on the 464 yard, par 5 eighth hole. Highlighted by four birdies on the final five holes of the day, graduate student Morgan Ketchum posted her lowest round of the week at two-under. Junior Macy Pate matched Ketchum's score of 70 and a bogey-free front nine to finish under-par and T21.
Headed into Match play
Wake Forest tees off at 7:30 a.m. ET for the first round of match play, taking on the North Carolina Tar Heels for the third consecutive year. The winner of the match will face SMU in the semifinal following completion of the first round, which will be televised via ACCNX.
