Demon Deacons Conclude Second Day of Competition at ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Junior Seren Rodgers led the Deacs with a runner-up finish in the women’s heptathlon.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Highlighted by multiple top-10 finishes, including a runner-up performance by junior Seren Rodgers, the Wake Forest track and field program continued its solid showing at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday evening at Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park.
Entering the day in third place, Rodgers battled back to secure second place in the women's heptathlon with a personal-best score of 5,575 points. The Taunton, England, native opened the day by registering a season-best jump of 6.05 meters in the long jump, the fifth-best mark in program history. Rodgers also added a throw of 34.01 meters in the javelin, before closing the day with a season-best time of 2:16.16 in the 800 meters.
Later in the day, junior Hunter Jones secured a seventh-place finish in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:50.05. After sitting in ninth for the majority of the race, Jones utilized a 1:04.32 final lap to move up multiple spots and earn critical points for the Deacs.
Freshman Victoria Rodriguez closed the evening by placing seventh in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase after posting a personal-best time of 10:09.14.
Senior Casey Sullivan added another top-10 performance for the Deacs as she registered a distance of 15.37 meters to place ninth in the women's shot put.
Meanwhile, freshman Natalia Issler clinched a spot in the final of the women's 800 meters on Saturday afternoon as she logged a time of 2:03.60 to finish first in her preliminary heat.
