Wake Forest Selected as No. 2 Seed in Morgantown Regional

The Demon Deacons will be joined by West Virginia, Binghamton and Kentucky in the NCAA Regional.
INDIANAPOLIS – The Wake Forest baseball team was selected to the 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the Morgantown Regional, as announced on ESPN on Monday afternoon.
This is the Demon Deacons' 19th all-time NCAA Tournament appearance and marks the Deacs fifth-straight postseason appearance, tying the longest streak in program history since reaching five-straight tournaments from 1998 to 2002.
Wake Forest is one of just 12 teams to make the postseason in each of the last five seasons.
The Demon Deacons have made three College World Series appearances, highlighted by winning the program's first national championship in 1955 and a run to the semifinals in 2023. Overall, Wake Forest holds an impressive 55-37 record at the national tournament.
In addition to the second-seeded Demon Deacons (36-20), the Morgantown Regional will include No. 16 national seed West Virginia (39-14), No. 3 seed Kentucky (31-21) and No. 4 seed Binghamton (31-20).
Wake Forest will open NCAA Tournament play against the Wildcats on Friday, May 29 at 12 p.m. on ESPN2 in the first game of the regional. The Mountaineers and Bearcats will face off at 5 p.m. ET.
The Morgantown Regional is paired with the Los Angeles Regional. The winners of those two regionals will play in a Super Regional the following weekend (Friday, June 5 - Monday, June 8). In addition to No. 1 national seed UCLA, the regional features Virginia Tech, Cal Poly and Saint Mary's.

Wake Forest is the only ACC program to win at least 15 conference games for the last five seasons.
The Demon Deacons have totaled eight 40-win seasons in program history, with three coming under head coach Tom Walter, including two of the last four years.
Winning With Walt
Head coach Tom Walter picked up his 950th career win in the Deacs 10-5 victory against No. 7 Coastal. Currently in his 17th season with the Deacs, Walter has recorded the second-most wins in program history (535), trailing only Wake Forest Hall of Famer George Greer (636). Walter ranks second among active head coaches in the ACC, joining Avent as one of just two over the 900 mark.
