Lewellen has earned the honor three times in her career, and twice in her tenure at Wake Forest.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Tony and Vi Golding Head Coach Kim Lewellen has been selected to the Watchlist of the Division I Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year, as announced by the organization this afternoon.
Now in her eighth year with the program, Lewellen has totaled 29 team titles since joining the Deacs, adding two this past September. Alongside Lyons Family Associate Head Coach Ryan Potter, Lewellen coached the program to two team titles and three individual titles in the fall, as well as an LPGA debut for senior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen at the ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge. Potter was also named to the 2025-26 WGCA Assistant Coach of the Year Watch List, as announced last Thursday.
While securing two consecutive team titles, sophomore Chloe Kovelesky and junior Macy Pate took the individual titles at both the ANNIKA Intercollegiate and the Jackson T. Stephens Cup under Lewellen's instruction. This marked the first time the women's team had swept both team and individual titles at the Stephens Cup in its five years. It also marked the first time individuals from the same school claimed back-to-back titles, with Carolina Chacarra ('25) claiming the victory in 2024.
Serving as caddie for Pate, Lewellen returned to Augusta National Women's Amateur to guide Pate past the cutline for the first time in her two years at ANWA. Following success at Augusta National, the three-time ACC Coach of the Year returned to Porters Neck Country Club for the 2026 ACC Championship which saw the Deacs take third place in stroke play.
In the Lewellen era, Wake Forest has never placed outside the top-five in stroke play at the ACC Championship and are the only team to finish in the top-four of stroke play over the last seven years.
