Opportunity Awaits! Wake Forest Athletics Hosting Auditions for PA Announcer Role

Tryouts to be the announcer for the men's and women's soccer programs will be held on Monday, June 29 at David F. Couch Ballpark.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – In the continued effort to provide the Best Fan Experience in North Carolina, Wake Forest Athletics will be holding auditions this spring to bolster its roster of public address announcers for home events for the 2026-27 academic year and moving forward!
Interested individuals will have the potential of serving as the primary voice of Wake Forest men's and women's soccer and other secondary PA roles.
Tryouts will take place in person on Monday, June 29 at 7 p.m. at David F. Couch Ballpark.
The role of a public address announcer at an event includes the introduction of starting lineups, in-game action and other in-venue announcements as needed. During the auditions, participants will be asked to read a sample script over the PA system and meet with several Wake Forest Athletics staff members for a brief interview.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Public address announcers report to Cliff Bonner, Associate AD for Fan Experience, Game Presentation & Campus Partnership and the Wake Forest Fan Experience representative assigned to the respective sport. Announcers are compensated based on the number of games they work and are subject to a background check. Public address announcers for Wake Forest Athletics are renewed on an annual basis by Wake Forest Athletics.

- Strong vocal ability, enunciation, enthusiasm and comfort addressing large crowds.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- In-depth knowledge of rules for selected sports and ability to understand in-game action.
- Ability to follow a script, react quickly and readily accept feedback.
- Experience working as a PA announcer at the high school, collegiate or professional level is preferred.
- Must be available to work nights, weekends and some holidays.
- Lives within a commutable distance of Winston-Salem.
