Fourteen Demon Deacons Earn ACC Graduate Scholar-Athlete Recognition

Football, track & field and women’s basketball student-athletes picked up the conference’s newest honor.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference unveiled its inaugural Graduate Scholar-Athletes of the Year list on Friday, as Wake Forest strongly represented, with 14 student-athletes earning recognition for the 2025-26 school year.
Football had the most honorees for the Demon Deacons, landing 10 selections – Nick Andersen, Sterling Berkhalter, Will Cobb, Langston Hardy, Dylan Hazen, Devin Kylany, Zach Lohavichan, Sawyer Racanelli, George Sell and BJ Williams.
Three members of track & field were recognized, with Lucas Guerra and Nick Masterman on the men's side and Emma Douglass on the women's. Emily Johns of women's basketball rounded out the group of Deacs.
Andersen, Cobb, Douglass, Guerra, Hardy Hazen, Johns, Kylany, Lohavichan, Masterman, Racanelli and Williams added to their summer of academic achievements, having also been named to the 2026 ACC Academic Honor Roll last month.
"I would like to congratulate our student-athletes who obtained their graduate degrees this academic year," said Jane Caldwell, Sr. Associate AD, Student-Athlete Services and Assistant to the Dean. "This is the first year for the new academic honor and we know how hard they worked in both academics and athletics to earn this award."
To earn ACC Graduate Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition, student-athletes must successfully complete a graduate degree program (excluding certificate programs) and meet the ACC's athletic participation requirements during at least one season while enrolled as a graduate student.
Consistent with the criteria for the ACC Undergraduate All-Academic Teams across the league's 28 sponsored sports, student-athletes must meet the following participation requirements:

- Team sports (baseball, men's and women's basketball, field hockey, football, men's and women's golf, gymnastics, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's tennis, volleyball, and wrestling): Student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% of their team's contests. Baseball and softball pitchers must have appeared in at least 20% of their team's contests.
- Individual sports (men's and women's cross country, men's and women's fencing, rowing, men's and women's swimming & diving, and men's and women's track & field): Student-athletes must have competed in either the ACC Championship or the NCAA Championship.
