TOLEDO, Ohio. - After one round at the Inverness Intercollegiate, Wake Forest men's golf team sits tied for 12th, and 15-over-par, and three strokes outside of the top-10.
The Deacs were led by junior Jorge Hao, who at two-over fired the Demon Deacons' low round of the day and cemented himself into a tight top-25. Senior Kyle Haas followed Hao at three-over, carding a bogey-free front nine to begin his day.
Sophomore Lorenzo Rodriguez and senior Nick Prieto recorded matching rounds at five-over, while junior Nolan Harper went seven-over after 18.
Wake Forest saw success on par-5s, averaging three-under for fifth best in the field. As a team, the Deacs totaled 12 birdies during round one, fourth-highest of the competition.
Round Two Next
The second round of three will begin at 8 a.m. ET with live scoring available via Scoreboard. Wake Forest will tee off with Nolan Harper at 9:40 a.m, Lorenzo Rodriguez at 9:50 a.m., Nicholas Prieto at 10 a.m., Kyle Haas at 10:10 a.m., and Jorge Hao rounds out the Deacs at 10:20 a.m.
