Pate Claims Consecutive Stephens Cup Title, Deacs Advance to Championship Match

FRISCO, Texas – At four-under-par, senior Macy Pate secured back-to-back titles and her second career win at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. Pate shared medalist honors with Texas senior Farah O'Keefe, marking the second pair co-champions in tournament history.
The Winston-Salem native carded 10 birdies across three rounds and marked her lowest 54-hole score since last year's Stephen's Cup at 212 (-4).
Beyond Pate's individual performance, the Demon Deacons surged into first place and guaranteed their spot in the championship match tomorrow. Wake Forest posted the lowest team round of day two, finishing six-under overall. Additionally, the Deacs recorded the lowest number of bogeys in the competition and most birdies in the field at 51.
Junior Chloe Kovelesky battled back from an over-par second round to end three-under overall, with a 69 (-3) in the final round. She completed a clean front-nine and an under-par back nine to finish T3. Earning a top-10 finish, freshman Benedicte Brent-Petersen shot even par with two birdies to wrap stroke play at one-over.
Freshman Havann Torstensson carded the most birdies of the Deacs on day two, with birdies on the last two holes of the round to finish in the top-20. Fellow freshman Vidhi Lakhawala also completed the 54-holes in the top-20, carding eight birdies between two days.
Moving on to Matchplay
Wake Forest will take on South Carolina in the championship match, with the first pairing off at 1:20 p.m. ET.
Wake Forest and South Carolina have met multiple times in matchplay, as well as in the Stephens Cup. The Deacs have won three of their last three meetings with the Gamecocks, including their third place match at the 2024 Stephens Cup.
