Wake Forest Finishes Runner-Up at Stephens Cup

Despite their loss in match play, the Deacs remain undefeated in stroke play this year.
FRISCO, Texas - In a tightly contested match, the No. 7 Wake Forest women's golf team fell to the No. 11 South Carolina Gamecocks, 3-1 in the championship round at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, Wednesday afternoon at PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas.
The Demon Deacons remained well in contention throughout the front nine, despite falling down in a few matches. South Carolina took control soon, earning two points against the Deacs but Wake Forest was still in control of two matches.
Junior Chloe Kovelesky took the 1UP lead on hole six, and did not let up until hole 13 where she won the Deacs' first point, 6&5.
South Carolina secured the final point on hole 17, with Wake Forest unable to surmount a comeback.
Freshman Vidhi Lakhawala showed veteran experience in her match, going 2UP beginning on hole 2 and remaining in the lead for the rest of her match. Although unable to complete play, Lakhawala ended the match still in the lead.
